Question: How does gender influence the symptoms of bipolar disorder and the care received?
Abstract: Gender plays an important part in bipolar disorder, for it affects almost each aspect. It affects this disorder by influencing environment, genetics, diagnosis, treatment, and, unfortunately, behaviors. Gender changes the way people view you, so of course it affects how people treat you with bipolar disorder. The problem occurs when doctors treat patients differently based on gender because it can become a matter of life and death. A doctor might let his bias influence the way he treats a patient. Doctors need to find the right balance between medical differences and personal opinion. Moreover, it is important to realize the actual differences in the signs of bipolar disorder in men and women. Doctors can’t keep looking for the same symptoms between genders because there is a strong correlation between certain genders and certain signs. Gender’s role in bipolar disorder is present medically, but it is also there along with bias and stereotypes.

Question:
Abstract: Bipolar disorder is a mental illness in which those affected usually experience mood swings and alternating manic (high energy) and depressive (low energy) episodes. People with bipolar may suffer from even more serious symptoms such as suicidal thoughts and psychosis. Regarding bipolar disorder and other mental illnesses, there are significant inequities in how people of different races experience life with their disorders. For some races, individuals are more likely to be misdiagnosed based on stereotypes. Bipolar disorder is caused by multiple variables, such as social, environmental, and genetic circumstances. These circumstances can all be affected by race and therefore put certain people at a higher risk. Besides the differences in rates of bipolar disorder, there are also major gaps in the resources people have access to and are willing to take advantage of. Overall, race affects everything from diagnosis to treatment to quality of life when in comes to bipolar disorder.
